It is barbaric for anybody to snatch ballot boxes, says Segun Sowunmi

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State, Hon. Segun Sowunmi, has expressed displeasure over political violence that erupted at several polling units during the just concluded governorship and assembly elections.

Sowunmi, a renowned personality in Ogun State politics and former governorship aspirant under the platform of the PDP, stressed that that it is very barbaric for anybody in this century to be snatching ballot boxes, shooting sporadically in deliberate attempt to distrupt electoral process.

The PDP stalwart also condemned the act of disturbing people from voting for candidate of their choice.

According to him, people should not be seeing as non-indegene most especially during elections.

He added that, constitutionally, every individual is protected under the law hence he or she is a citizen of Nigeria.

Sowunmi further expressed displeasure over an alleged “unconcerned” attitude of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who reportedly refused to utter a ward on series of threat melted on Igbos in Lagos State.

He added, “I am disappointed in the silence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the so called President elect in Nigeria who supposed to be a father to all Nigerians including the Igbos.

“It is also very disgusting that at this century we are witnessing our governorship Election characterized with shooting of gun sporadically.”

He, however, urged Ogun State citizens to embrace peace but informed the violence insinuators that no one has monopoly of violent.

“I want the people of Ogun State to embrace peace but violence promoters should know that nobody has monopoly of madness, “ Showunmi said.
