Opebi Family Petitions Police over Pastor, lawyer, politicians’ alleged fraudulent involvement in land grabbing
One Pastor Folarin Mathew Igbasan, the confidential secretary of Opebi Egba Family of Opebi Ikeja, Lagos has colluded with one Laura Odukoya of Laura Odukoya & Co to steal a land mass of sixty-eight plots situated at Ikeja, Lagos, belonging to a company and represented by one Prince Shola Fagbohun.
In a petition signed by Aare Oladotun Hassan, Esq.,
Principal Partner/ Chairman, Eti-Osa Bar Forum, Lagos, and made available to Platform Times shows that the mastermind of the fraudulent act, Pastor Folarin was chanced by the virtue of being an errand boy/confidential secretary to the family of
Opebi Egba Refugees Family, one of the first owners, before been sold to Mike Daley Investment Limited.
The petition also clearly states that Mr. Folarin and Lawyer Odukoya connived via impersonation to obtain Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) with the help of the politicians in the state.
It was also reported that the situation had aggravated, leading to loss of lives, destruction of properties worth millions of Naira and continuous intimidation of the rightful owner.
The petition reads in parts: “Based on this premise, we had it on good records that Chief Micheal Akin Osiyemi, the Chairman of Mike Daley Investment Limited the rightful owner of the landed properties at Odogbo/Opebi Community, off Osho Street, Opebi Ikeja represented by Prince Shola K. Fagbohun by virtue of the entire power of Attorney attached herewith.
“Our attention has been drawn to the serial act of criminal conspiracy on subversion of justice, unprofessional gross misconducts, impersonation by Laura Odukoya & Co. as Legal Representative, deceit, complicity, intimidation, duress, high handedness, criminal trespass, threatening violence, land fraud/grabbing, abuse of privilege/position as confidential family secretary and stealing of vital information to process fictitious Lagos State Government Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) land title under suspicious circumstances by Pastor Folarin Mathew Igbasan, Laura Odukoya and others, in respect of the entire 68 plots of land belonging to, registered and marked as Mike Daley Investment Limited landed property situate and lying at Odogbo Opebi Community, off Osho Street, Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos represented by Prince Shola K. Fagbohun.
“We aghast to know that Pastor Mathew Igbasan clandestinely used misused his position as Opebi Family Errand / Confidential Secretary who by virtue of his position is preview to vital family information particularly land processing and writing of letters and other secretarial duties , wherein he intentionally circumvent and conspired with some highly placed political bigwigs in Lagos State led by: Mrs. Kemi Nelson, Prince Dele Ajomale former Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC), other principal heads of government and related high ranking persons alike in Nigeria benefitted with free issuance of land plots of land title document C of O, as a means to fraudulently use them and gained unfettered access and privy to the Lagos State Government issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy and other ancillary supports viz use of Lagos State Task Force and other unlawful means in order forcefully dispossessed our client of their valid possession and right of ownership, considering the initial land titled registered survey (Attached herewith) age long before the culprit took advantage of his closeness to the Opebi Egba Refugees Family, others are adjoining joint owners are: Amore and Osu Families that sold to Mike Daley Investment Limited, all this cumulated to his frivolous claims of valid ownership of the entire 68(Sixty-Eight) plots of land, wherein at a particular point in time this same culprit witnessed one of the document that released and granted power of Attorney to Prince Shola Fagbohun.
“We understand that the said Lawyer, has fraudulently obtained a copy of our Approved Layout Plan No. DM/429 dated 27th September 2001 (copy attached) and parading herself as our clients Legal representative and using the Approved Layout to defraud innocent citizen by selling our land till date in connivance with Pastor Mathew Igbasan and other trespassers.
“We are appealing to your good office, to investigate this gross act of impersonation and other nefarious criminal actions involving those names mentioned as we gathered that she has been busy bringing buyers to the land to fraudulently sell off our clients land without consent.
“Consequently, we boldly state unequivocally that the culprits actively participated in the crime leading to loss of lives, destruction of properties worth millions of Naira and continuous intimidation of our client, amounting to threat to life, duress, gross misconduct by a lawyer, who intentionally acted unlawfully without any consent claiming she has been instructed by our clients to write letters, intention to steal and conduct likely to cause breach of peace respectively.
“We aware of the culprits continuous acts of criminality, who intentionally and deceitfully conspired to forcefully grab and dispossess our client of their peaceful possession and use of their property, and all efforts to get the culprits know that have no such rights proved abortive, yet the culprits still insist on displaying continuous breach of peace and criminality.”
The deprived has however petitioned the alleged in a letter written to the Assistant Inspector General of Police.
“We shall appreciate your (as the Assitant Inspector General of Police) accelerated investigation of the culprits; who are hell bent to jointly frustrate our clients and subvert justice, having explored all measures to let them know that lack the valid right or authority to execute land documents title on the said land at Opebi, Ikeja based on their personal evil intention of criminality.
“Based on the foregoing acts, our clients can longer enjoy peaceful access to use and enjoyment of the land due to the serial threats of attacks by the culprits as we write, hence we urgently request for your accelerated intervention, precipitating our petition for an immediate action for due diligent investigation and onward prosecution if found culpable forthwith.”
