
Despite massive campaign that heralded the local government election in Ogun state, the exercise was mared due low turnout from the electorates.
Most of the polling units in the three Senatorial Districts of the state were seen scanty as only a few people went out to exercise their franchise.
In Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government, as at 9: 24 am, only 17 electorates had voted at Wesley Primary School Unit 2, Ward 7 out of over 500 accretted voters.

Out of the polling stations visited by our correspondent in the local government, only Ward three, Ita-Osoyin unit two where Governor Dapo Abiodun cast his vote recorded impressive turnout by voters as 98 people have already voted at about 10: 35.
The presence of security personnel was felt in all polling centers as there was no threat to security anywhere. Security personnel were seen enforcing restriction order, apprehending commercial motorcyclists plying the roads against government’s directive.
Same experience painted the exercise in Odogbolu, Sagamu and other Local government in Ogun East Senatorial District.
In Ogun Central Senatorial District, Ward 11, unit 1 and 2, Abeokuta South Local government , the electorate lamented delay in the arrival of electoral materials as no OGSIEC officials arrived the venue of the exercise until 10 am.

At ward 1, polling unit 3, near Holy Trinity church in Abeokuta North, voting commenced around past 10am instead of 8am.
The APC’s Chairmanship candidate for the Local government, Adebayo Abdulsalam Ayorinde who was also wondered at the poor turnout expressed confidence that people would later come out.
Also in Ogun West Senatorial District, presiding officers in Ayetoro1 ward 2 at Adaraloye, Joga orile in Yewa North and Ilaro in Yewa South local government expressed displeasure, having been expecting people to come out in mass.
However, the vice chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, P-D-P, Yusuf kesinro, at ward 13 in Abeokuta South, however Expressed his dissatisfaction about the election process alleging the OGSIEC for allowing the ruling APC members to vote without the PVC.
The former Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi who spoke on the election process at his home town in Ayetoro expressed optimism that the ruling APC will come out in flying color at the poll.
The election results has not been announced in any local government as at the time of filling the report.
The All Progressives Party (APC) in party agent who wondered why the experience said “The turnout is very poor, we are still awaiting maybe they will later turnout but it’s been free and fair.
