The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, on Monday decorated no fewer than 607 newly-promoted corps with their new ranks.
The ceremony was held at the command’s permanent site along Kobape Road in Abeokuta.Newsmen report that the newly decorated were the officers who passed the 2020 promotion examination.
The state Commandant, Mr. Hammed Abodunrin, described the 2020 figure as unprecedented in the history of the command, recalling that 209 officers passed the 2019 promotion examination.
Abodunrin said the development was “a promise kept” by the Commandant-General of NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, who according to Abodunrin, had promised massive promotions during his tenure.“The new commandant-general has said that the welfare of all NSCDC personnel was paramount to him, and he has demonstrated it through his approval for this exercise in all our commands nationwide,” he said.
Abodunrin said that the promotion exercise had become necessary to appreciate the efforts of the affected officers and motivate them to perform better.
He said the decoration would enable them to carry new ranks and enhance their consciousness at taking on higher responsibilities.
The state commandant urged residents of the state to take advantage of the ongoing free public security education being provided by the agency.
He said that the best form of security “is the one provided by oneself”.Abodunrin said the agency, in complying with the directives of the commandant-general, had organized free security education for management members of various higher institutions in the state.“Our next target is to train three thousand secondary school teachers in the state before the end of this term.
“The training will take place at different zones, and we shall also monitor the teachers to ensure that they replicate the trainings among the students,” he said.
