The Inspector General of Police, Muhammadu Adamu Abubakar has again re-established confidence in men of the Nigeria Police Force, Charging them to perform their duties without the fear of criminals or victimisation.

Adamu said this on Thursday during his tour of the Ogun state Police Command’s headquarters in Elewe-Eran, Abeokuta, the state capital.

He also challenged the police to be courageous in combating crime and criminology, charging them not make the state a safe place for criminals to hybernate.

“Be courageous, be civil and follow the procedures in performing your duties and if any mistake comes up despite being law abiding, we shall stay by you and defend you,” he said.

He added ” President Muhammadu Buhari has acknowledged the fact that we are doing a great job and because of this, he has approved another salary scale for us to operate better.

Adamu warned his men not to shoot to kill criminals but rather maim to arrest them, insisting that the lives of citizens matters.

The Police boss who expressed displeasure over the killing of Police during the recent Endsars Protest across the country, also told his men to be law abiding and stand at their duties in order to operate effectively and efficiently.

His words “No good Nigerian will be against the police, only a criminal is gainst the police and their activities and we must never give them chance to operate, it is our contitutional responsibility, we cannot shy away from that and we cannot allow anybody to take that from us.”

He assured that the federal government would continue to see to the welfare of the police and promote capacity building in the force.
